Huludao Central Hospital, established in 1950, was promoted to a Grade 3A hospital in 1997 (and reaffirmed in 2012). In 2010, it became a member of the "Shengjing Medical Alliance" affiliated with Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University and, in 2017, became a non-affiliated affiliated hospital of Dalian Medical University. In 2012, the hospital received ISO9001 quality management system certification. It is an agreement hospital for remote medical services with the Chinese People's Liberation Army General Hospital and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University. The hospital serves as a base for stroke screening and prevention, standardized resident physician training, comprehensive general medicine clinical training, prenatal diagnosis, and a chest pain center. It is also a teaching hospital for China Medical University, Dalian Medical University, Jinzhou Medical University, and Xinglin College of Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Additionally, it is a joint postgraduate training base for Dalian Medical University and Jinzhou Medical University. Huludao City Cancer Prevention and Treatment Center, Huludao City Nursing Association, and 29 municipal quality control centers are located within the hospital. Seventeen chairs of professional committees of the Huludao City Medical Association are held by heads of the hospital's disciplines. The hospital operates three campuses: Lianshan, Longwan, and Chemical Industry, and manages the municipal infectious disease hospital, forming a "Four-in-One" medical service pattern.
The hospital is responsible for medical, teaching, research, preventive health care, emergency response, and social service tasks in the Huludao area. It covers an area of 124,900 square meters, with a building area of 203,000 square meters and a bed capacity of 2,659. In 2019, the hospital provided outpatient services to 985,600 individuals, admitted 67,900 patients, performed a total of 13,000 surgeries, had an average length of stay of 10.2 days, maintained a bed occupancy rate of 91.8%, and achieved a successful rescue rate of 88.6%.
The hospital has received several awards, including one first prize from the National Medical Association's Anesthesiology Branch for camel medical device technology innovation, 28 provincial research achievement awards, 94 municipal research achievement awards, and 49 first prizes for scientific and technological progress in the city. The hospital has published 3 SCI papers, 122 core papers, 921 national-level papers, and obtained 5 patents. It has been recognized as the "Model Workers' Home" by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the "National Advanced Collective of the Medical and Health System" by the former Ministry of Health, and received the "Medical Aid Contribution Award" from Health Newspaper Company, and the "Advanced Collective for Supportive Work in Health in Qinghai Province" from the former Qinghai Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission. The hospital has been honored with titles such as "Civilized Unit" in Liaoning Province, "Model Unit" for ten consecutive years in the competition for high-quality services in the healthcare system in Liaoning Province, "Consumer Integrity Unit" in Liaoning Province, and "Civilized Unit" and "Advanced Collective" in Huludao City for ten consecutive years. The hospital has also received awards such as the First Prize for the Nursing Post Skills Competition Heart-Lung Resuscitation Team, the Second Prize in the Fourth Liaoning Province Resident Physician Competition, and the Comprehensive Group Team Excellence Award in the Young Physician Post Skills Competition for Medical Institutions in the province.
